A kind of geomorphological technogenesis is considered, which is typical for areas where soluble rocks are covered by saturated noncoherent soils. In this geological setting, the man-made withdrawal of water from soluble deposits or technogenous watering of cover soils can lead to such changes in relief as the formation of single (and sometimes numerous) collapse sinkholes on the Earth surface or under foundations. In built-up areas, this can cause damage to road surfaces, deformation, and destruction of buildings and structures, which has been repeatedly noted in our country and abroad. The predictive theoretical decisions based on the results of laboratory modeling of this phenomenon have been proposed. They allow estimating the possibility of the collapse sinkhole’s formation and its size, taking into consideration parameters of a structure situated over it.
