INFLUENCE OF THE NPP OBJECTS OPERATION MODE ON THE FORMATION OF FOUNDATION SOIL PROPERTIES

The article reviews current issues in engineering-geological, geoecological and geotechnological studies of the foundation soils at the NPP main facilities in order to develop the further safe operation of the latter for a long period of time. It has been established that construction and operation of such unique facilities as a reactor block, engine house and unit pump stations affect their foundation soil in the most extreme way during the construction. The impacts could be the following: a high pressure at right angles, high-frequency vibration and elevated temperatures on the foundation baseplate. It is emphasized that most often the synergistic effect of such impacts leads to differential settlement of foundation soil and a critical tilt of the nuclear reactor building. The article justifies that the development of special research methods is needed for the foundation soils under such facilities, which are exposed to the mentioned extreme human-induced impact for a long time.
