RADIOECOLOGY PROPERTIES OF THE TATYSHEV ISLAND (KRASNOYARSK)

Results of three-years-long study of radiation and ecological conditions on the Tatyshev Island in the Yenisei River are presented in the article. The island is located 70 km upstream from a mining and chemical enterprise FSUE “MCC”. The measurements of gamma-radiation ambient dose equivalent and specific activity of nat-ural and technogenic radionuclides in soils and subsoils showed that radiological and ecological conditions of the Tatyshev Island may be considered to be safe. An important role of fluvisols of low floodplain in accu-mulating of 137Cs coming from the catchment area is shown. The role of seasonal streams of the river in the accumulation of 137Cs is estimated. The relationships established allow one to consider the observed levels of the isotope accumulation on the Tatishev Island as background values for a comparison with those observed downstream from FSUE “MCC”.
